Engagements

Princeton Engagement | Kate and Andrew | Princeton, NJ

June 19th, 2010

Kate, Andrew and I met on the campus of TCNJ; the place they first met one another.  And the place they fell in love.   Not too many people carry their college loves through their adult lives but not only did they do that,  they also took school with them. Well, sort of. They are both teachers now working and living in the Princeton, NJ Area.  After spending an afternoon with them, I’m going to guess they are very much liked teachers too.  I enjoyed the entire session and well OK, it didn’t hurt that they are both absolutely gorgeous.

During my initial consult I usually recommend we do their engagement session in a place that is meaningful to them.  It can be a place they met, fell in love or where they spend a good deal of their time now building new memories.  For some people, this is not so easy.  I’ll be introducing you to such a couple in a coming post. This couple, though, it was easy.

In fact everything about them is easy going.  Maybe it’s the teacher in them.  I don’t know… But I will tell you Kate is on the ball and because of her attention to detail it’s truly a wedding I’m really looking forward to.  And yet, she makes it all look easy and stress free.  Yes, it must be the teacher thing.

They’ll be getting married next June at St Paul’s Catholic Church and their reception will be held at The Nassau Inn, both in Princeton, NJ.  It’s going to be an amazing affair with Kristin Rockhill of Details of I Do planning the affair.

For those who know me, you’ll know I get excited about things like dresses and shoes and stationary and well any other meaningful details.  Kate’s ideas get me excited for June 2011!

So, without further adieu… Meet Kate and Andrew…

An excerpt of images taken by Shari DeAngelo. Brittany and Marc toughed very cold temperatures at Longwood Gardens and we got to put together a Save the Date slide show for the upcoming wedding at Tavistock Country in Haddonfield, NJ

So what do you get when you mix 2 amazingly beautiful people in love, freezing cold temperatures, a little snow and bright bright sunshine? You get breath you can see, love you can feel and…well OK, you get cold fingertips. But just a little.

Brittany, Marc and I met up at Longwood Gardens to 26 degrees.  We weren’t sure how comfortable we’d be outside for any extended period so Longwood really was the perfect place to pull off a January engagement session.  OK, nearly perfect.  I had put an order in for 4 inches of snow and only about 1.5 fell.  And Marc had visions of water fountains that were off because of the freezing temps.   Still, we needed a place that  represented this outdoors couple. Too bad they don’t allow dogs for photography (then it really would have been perfect)!

We all were pleasantly surprised by how pleasant it was out there. Maybe it was the brisk pace and acreage we covered, but I think it was the good company and fun we were having! Seriously… the most I’ve laughed in a session in a long time!

For example… We were walking around inside the main arboretum when we fell upon the children’s garden area. Marc, without skipping a beat was up on a ledge opening his mouth for the pulsing water fountain to aim so that it was going in his mouth. A second later, Brittany was up there joining in the fun. Just as the water started to spray across and behind them, it hit Brittany square in the back of the head. We were all laughing so hard that I only got one photo that was in focus. Thankfully it was the one I show below.

I am often finding myself amazed at how lucky I am by the couples I get to work with. To say I absolutely adore this couple and can’t wait for their wedding day, is an understatement!

To Brittany and Marc, thank you, from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to play a small role in your beautiful love story. May 22nd can’t come soon enough!

Personal Note: As some of you may know, I have been working on some new changes here. The website is just part of those changes but that said, I really wanted to introduce you to the new look here, with something special to me. I love some of these images and it was important to me to kick this off right. So, to Dear Tiffany and Cody, thank you for being patient. I hope you enjoy these as your web gallery is being uploaded for you.

Every so often we hear a story about high school loves that withstand time and the tribulations that life sometimes throws at us. When you meet Tiffany and Cody you’re instantly aware of how deep their love is for one another and for how real and genuine they are to each other and even though the years of their youth are behind them, they still have that special something. It makes me believe there really is that one true love for each of us… and to believe some people are really lucky and find it early in life. I really and truly believe that is the case with this two.

I had SO much fun with this couple. We started at the place they met and actually got to go inside the high school building (who knew we’d be able to do that on a Sunday?) We found her locker… we sneaked into the stair well, we went to a park, splashed around in some water and then headed to the beach… but not without out stopping once or twice for my whimsical moments (soybeans anyone?)

I absolutely cannot wait until their wedding. They are as beautiful on the inside as they are outside!

April 7th, 2009

On Sunday Mary, Zach and I headed out for their Engagement Session. We couldn’t have had a nicer day. Seriously. 70 degrees and sunny is my kind of day!! We trekked all over Philadelphia too, enjoying every minute of it. We started at Valley Green then headed to The Philadelphia Water Works, where the good City Patrol Officer came over to let us know that we’d need a permit to continue shooting. Bummer. So, we wandered around and took advantage of the blooming trees and then off to Dock Street and surrounding blocks to get the last of the sun bouncing off this amazing bank building.

These two are so much fun and absolutely adorable. I cannot wait until their wedding. There’s something special about two people who are really just so amazing together and madly in love. It’s just…well really beautiful. Meet Mary and Zach. Ain’t love grand?

We got so many amazing pictures that picking a handful for the blog was difficult. I still have so many more to go through. For now, though… a teaser. Here’s a handful to enjoy while I finish up the rest.

Mary and Zachary at Wissahickon Park

February 10th, 2009

A clear February day and near 60 degree temps made it an ideal day for shooting Mary and Zach’s GTKY Session and we were all set… Except for one little problem.  I woke up with contagious icky eyes (thanks to a hug and kiss from my favoritist 3 year old client ever).  So a couple hours later, this brave couple opted to stay outside (with me at a safe distance) to find rocks, glistening water and the cave anyway.

With the snow melting quickly we slipped and slid a bit in the muddy trails but we did find that cave…eventually.    I cannot wait until their engagement session and wedding now!

Here’s a select few from our day…

Shannon and Chris

September 24th, 2008

Every once in awhile I get lucky enough to meet a couple who are fabulously in love. I mean the kind of love that lasts well beyond the wedding day and continues to grow as they grow old together. It’s made of years of knowing one another and never forgetting how lucky they are. That’s how Shannon and Chris are. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to shoot an engagement session with a couple like this. Thank you to both of you!
