A Lifestyles Portrait Session in Haddonfield

My new site is still work in progress so I’m going to have to make up for lost time after it’s published. If you’re seeing your own images appear here, check your email for Access Codes for your full gallery.

So, you see… apparently I really can’t wait for the new site. :-)

Now, I’d like to introduce you to Justin. About 10 hours after this session was completed, Justin, a lifelong resident of my home town of Haddonfield, moved to New York. The Big Apple. He’s now working for a non-profit that provides services to teenage girls who are hoping for a better life than the one they’ve come to know. He’s always known he was destined for public service of some kind, but when the offer for this position became available to him, he knew it was the right choice for him. We had an hour to run about town, in the rain, and make meaningful images of a guy who impressed me to no end. I can say, with all honesty, that my work here will not show you what a great young man he’s now become and how lucky the world is to have people like him in it.

In an hour I felt lucky for having gotten to know him. Thank you Justin… I’m sure you’re doing your family and your home town proud about now…

July 4th, 2009

Danielle stopped by because she needed to get some new rep cards done for her agency work. She’s a model, an actress and a beautiful dancer. Some of you may recognize her from some other work she’s done for me. This time it was work for her. She helped me test out my new red office wall (Thanks, Danielle) and then we headed to the yard. She’s as beautiful and illuminant on the inside as she is outside. I’m sure she drives the boys crazy.
It was hard to pick some for the blog because I had so many I love, but this time, I went for images that ran the gamut and could fit together. Something new for me.

Without further adieu, some selections from our day.

Dena is one of those fabulously photographic people.  Here’s a few personal favorites from a recent session with her.  I kind of have to laugh when I think of the fiasco  that occurred just before I saw her that day….  Needless to say, I showed up 40 minutes late, limping a little and had to change my clothes 2 times on my way.  But boy, once we got going it was so much fun.  Thank you, Dena… You are absolutely amazing!

April 9th, 2009

Dwayne and I have worked together many times. It’s about time he gets his own blog post. Seriously? It’s past time. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy working with him and the countless images of him I have adored since I’ve known him. He’s a champ and works so much harder than I do when we’re together. He’s even lugged gear for me. I’m not kidding. I joked that it was to help build up those muscles of his, but in truth it’s because he’s got a huge heart. An amazing and wonderful heart.

These were taken yesterday. Just he and I in the studio. I’ll be posting many of him in the coming months, but here’s a teaser and a couple favorites of mine. Still have lots more to sort through.

This family was awesome. Too seldom do I get to actually include dad in the family sessions I do for OpLove. This is one of those wonderful exceptions. We were able to get into the base and enter the area where they train mechanics to repair transport vehicles of all types. There were Humvees of various degrees of disrepair, waiting for the next day when trainees would come and disassemble and reassemble them. I took Gary Caunitus along as my assistant for this one, as I knew we’d have some lighting tricks to pull off. He’s 6’4″ and the best voice activated light stand ever. Seriously, thanks, Gary.

This family was so much fun. Although the pictures I selected to highlight here have a bit more of a serious connotation to them, the entire day was not so. Gotta love a mom who teaches her son how to do a WWF headlock (with sound effects). I even learned a thing or two from her. I’ll apologize in advance to my husband if I feel the urge to practice some.

Without further adieu…

March 3rd, 2009

Crazy weather we’ve been having this winter. We had a couple days in the 60′s and then yesterday we got 7 or 8 inches of snow. This is from one of those 60 degree days. I had the distinct honor of meeting this family as the snow of the previous storm had been melting away and it was the first sunny day for a good long week. So, what to do with 5 kids with cabin fever…. Hmmm.. Go outside and play of course!! And that we did. Everyone of us came home good and dirty and flushed with fresh air. We found ice to break, places to hide and a hill to roll on. Among other things.

The image toward the bottom of the young man carrying his sister on his back deserves a note. She was rolling and having a great time with the others but suddenly she had a tough time breathing. Without missing a beat, this amazing kid swept up his little sister on his back and ran her all the way home so she could get her treatment. He’s 13.

Have I mentioned yet that I just love this family? I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed them and our day together. The next time I’ll see them will be when the missing member of this family returns home from Iraq. He’s serving as an Army Combat Medic. Can’t wait!!

Jason Comes Home

January 31st, 2009

Every so often I get to be a part of something that moves me to tears.  For instance watching a soldier come home for leave and seeing him embrace his wife and children after far too long away.    The babies he left are now toddlers, able to run to him.  The little girls who anxiously awaited their father’s arrival with home made signs.  The passers-by who couldn’t look away and smile to themselves.   His beautiful wife, now pregnant with their fifth.  I got to watch as the long distance phone calls could at last become embraces.  Then I watched as this soldier became so overwhelmed by the magnitude of the moment that his own eyes welled up.  But he is home and he is safe and sound.  Thank God.

It’s these moments that remind me of what is important in my own life and just how much each of these families sacrifice for us.  I am in awe of their strength and deeply honored to be a part of their lives.

Here’s a select few….

Dear Dad, While You Were Away…

December 21st, 2008

I’ve been a bit bad about blogging this past couple weeks. You’ll have to forgive me… It’s Santa’s fault, you see. Seems he needed a bit of extra help this year and his requests went to my spam folder by accident.

In an effort to keep up and honor my OpLove Families, I wanted to share with you a few images from a session I did last week. Admittedly I have a soft spot for kids but man… these kids… They do funky fun like no one’s business! Seriously cute kids and a wonderful family.

Many thanks to Kim, Emma, Hanna, Joshua and Caleb for the delicious candy and fabulous time! I really cannot wait until we all meet again… Yay! Homecomings!!!!
